# AI edits inside a Smart Form switch off “Smart Form”

I’m using Bootstrap Studio 8.0.1on macOS 26.7.1with the built-in AI assistant (Claude Opus 4.6).  
Whenever the AI changes anything inside a form that has “Smart Form” enabled, Bootstrap Studio switches the Smart Form option off. Even a tiny edit does it. In my case the AI only changed the text and value of one `<option>` in a select field. Edits elsewhere on the page don’t affect the form.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Add a contact form with a select field and enable “Smart Form” in the Options panel (recipient set). Export: the form has `data-bss-recipient` and sends e-mails.
2. Ask the AI assistant to change one option of the select, e.g. “Change the option ‘Licence 20 – CHF 3,000’ to ‘Licence 20 – CHF 2,800’”.
3. Select the form again: “Smart Form” is disabled. After exporting, `data-bss-recipient` is missing and the form no longer sends anything.

**Expected:** The Smart Form setting stays as it is when the AI edits fields or options inside the form.

**Actual:** It is reset with every AI edit to the form. I have to re-enable it each time, and if I forget, the contact form on the live site silently stops working.

My guess is that Bootstrap Studio rebuilds the form component from the edited HTML, and the Smart Form setting isn’t part of that HTML, so it gets lost.

**Questions**

- Is this a known issue, and is a fix planned?
- Is there a way to keep the Smart Form setting when the form’s content is edited by the AI?
- Any recommended workaround until then?

Thank you for reporting this. We will fix it in our next release (expected next week).

Unfortunately, if you want to edit the form itself with the assistant, you can not avoid this resetting of the “Smart Form” setting. But if you’re editing something else on the page, you can hide the form (right click → Hide) so the assistant doesn’t see it. This way the “Smart Form” setting won’t be affected. Hope this helps!
