How does Smart Forms submission work?

I'm trying to add Google Analytics conversion tracker to the Smart Forms that comes with Bootstrap Studio. Looking over the html and it isn't clear to me how the Smart Forms submission works. There is no action associated with the form tag nor with the submit button.

If I understand correctly, it has something to do with iframes? Upon form submission the input data is sent to back-end code on Bootstrap Studio's Smart Form via iframe which is then emailed?
