Icons or utf-8 library?

I’m preferring utf-8, the icon libraries are extremely heavy, it takes more work, but the site loads faster.
Detail, if this post entered the wrong topic it is the fault of the forum that is not responsive, the cell phone is having problems with the display.

I would almost always using SVG icons and choosing only the ones I want. No need to load full libraries for a few icons
