What's coming in 5.6 [released]

Bootstrap Studio 5.6 is going to be our the next release series. Here is what we have planned:

  • :white_check_mark: The ability to add comments to components. This is a great way to include usage notes or inline documentation for specific parts of your design. Note: this is different from the HTML comment component which we already have. These new comments will be displayed floating on the side of the page and aren’t exported as part of the HTML.
  • :white_check_mark: JavaScript Modules and JSON support. You will be able to create mjs and json files in the JavaScript group in the Design panel.
  • :white_check_mark: Editing images in external editors. This way you can edit images in Photoshop, Krita, Gimp or other editors, and have them reimport automatically on save.
  • :white_check_mark: Bootstrap 5 final. We expect that the final version of Bootstrap will be released during the 5.6 series, in which case we will integrate it in Bootstrap Studio and make it the default for new designs.
  • :white_check_mark: Improvements to usability and performance. A lot of minor community requested features have been overlooked while we were busy with major additions to the app. We will take some time to implement them in this release.

We will ship these features in 5.6.* releases, as they are ready.
