One of the websites I have is a large information website, HTML/CSS pages with a contact form, nothing fancy.
The site really needs a clean-up as it is outdated and I am unsure how to go about it as I have limited programming skills and will probably need to hire someone.
At this stage I am trying to decide between using bootstrap studio to redesign the site, and copy the site structure and content over, or whether to move it all onto an established CMS like wordpress. Some pages rank quite well and I don’t want to mess the SEO.
I used to use Dreamweaver and it was rather easy to keep ontop of template changes through the editable regions function and simple upload to the host. I know most have moved away from DW and maybe I need to also. With this website (that was programmed by someone else) I am unsure as to the best way to update all the site disclaimers, links etc on every single page. There has to be a better way to manage it.
Hi printninja, for personal reasons I didn’t want to post it here, but can send a link privately if anyone want to take a look and make suggestions.
I am really just after some feedback on how people manage large sites these days, and if Bootstrap studio is a good option. I was hoping to stay away from Wordpress and seeing what other options there are.
I have built some websites with 30-60 pages (often in multiple languages) and found BSS to be a fine tool for managing/updating them. Especially after they added the search features.
Depends what you mean by big. Are we talking about 100 to 200 pages or 1000+?
I have a site that’s close to 100 pages and Bootstrap Studio isn’t the easiest to create and maintain a large website. There is no dedicated menu/page to view and edit, everything is crammed in the right hand side. I had to create subfolders (such as P1 and P2) and add pages in those folders, to help organise everything.
The program also becomes notably slower the more pages and images you add. Not unusable slow, but there’s definitely a difference compared to 10 pages vs 100.
In my opinion, if you’re going to create a very large website that needs a lot of maintenance, then a web based software such as WordPress would be a better choice.
I wonder if another option would be to do a redesign of the website in bootstrap studio then use something like Visual Code Studio to make future changes to content to the site? Would this program be easier to manage larger volumes of pages?
I am unsure. If there is anyone wanting to take a look at my site and make suggestions, please DM me. Thanks
