Hi,
I’ve noticed that Im having issues with google indexing my product pages. Basically all of them have received and indexing error and thus are not included in google search. The error from google search console states the following:
Im following the conventional page structure in bootstrap studio. As per google the error means
" Alternate page with proper canonical tag
This page is marked as an alternate of another page (that is, an AMP page with a desktop canonical, or a mobile version of a desktop canonical, or the desktop version of a mobile canonical). This page correctly points to the canonical page, which is indexed, so there is nothing you need to do. Alternate language pages are not detected by Search Console."
I honestly dont know why such a situation appears and how to get my product pages being indexed by google. Any ideas?
This happens when Google chooses a different URL that goes to your page than the one you expect it to use. I’ve found that often Google will choose https://www.mywebsite/index.html
instead of https://mywebsite/index.html
(no www) but it doesn’t matter because as long as Google has found a way to index a URL that takes the person to your page, it should show up in search.
Those particular pages dont appear in google search index. Thats the main worry. They dont get indexed due to this cannonical issue, hoiwever they do not appear in any other format in the index
Alternate page with proper canonical tag means Google has chosen a different version of your page as the one to index.
If you scroll down in Search Console, you should see a section called “Examples” with a bunch of the URLs that it’s not choosing as the canonical page. If you copy one of these URLs and paste it into your browser’s address bar, what happens?
