Can I get multilevel lists working?

What I mean is something like:

  1. This is a top level list item
    • This is a second list, within the first.
  2. This is a top level list item too

The obvious followup quesiton is... how?

I've tried but I can't seem to get the components to stack up in the right way

You simply drag the List Component into the List Item(s.) Then set the style and numbering type through the Options > List Options.

It couldn't be simpler. It took me all of 10 seconds to reproduce @kuligaposten sample.

Experiment. Try. You're not going to break the program.

Thanks, I was trying to make a List Item a child of the List Item instead of a List, which is why it wasn't working.

I might not have broken the program but the mouse was beginning to fear for its existence ?
