Would it be possible, when people are posting on the forum, especially for the first time that they be prompted with a guide on how to ask for support with website issues?
Frequently people will post an issue, but not share any code or relevant details that will help other forum users answer their question or solve their issue.
It would be valuable if users could see a prompt when writing a post in the Bootstrap Studio Help forum thread, that explains how to include code snippets and relevant details that would help people solve their issue, such as what is the expected behaviour, what is actually happening, how are they implementing their idea, what their experience level is.
I believe Discourse (this forum software) does has a feature that allows pinning topics to the top of categories (or globally), but it’s probably only something the Admins can do. So I guess one of the developers would have to create this “Guide for new forum members” and then @martin would have to pin it (assuming they’re amenable to the idea.)
I would add that if they do decide to do this, it would be good if such a Guide explained what each forum category is for, and give examples of questions and the appropriate topics in which to post those questions. So much stuff just ends up in the Bootstrap Studio Help category by default because pretty much anything can fall under the topic of Bootstrap Studio Help. At least half the posts in “Bootstrap Studio Help” belong in the Webdesign help category because they’re questions on general website development, and not on how to use the Bootstrap Studio software.
It might even be beneficial to add some new categories (ex: Tutorials, JavaScript Support, AI Issues) and rename others. For example, “Bootstrap Studio Help” might be better if it was named something like “Working With Bootstrap Studio”, and “Webdesign Help” might be better if it were named “Website Development Questions”, and “Ideas” maybe “Ideas & Suggestions”
Lastly, it would be great if posts with broken links were removed at least once every couple of months. Broken links really reduce the usefulness of the forum’s search function, and it’s frustrating to click links to examples/explanations that no longer exist.
