Version 7.1 is out!

Hey guys! We are happy to share that Bootstrap Studio 7.1 is now live. Here is what’s new in this release.

New

  • New Swiper component was added for building interactive slideshows for images and content. It comes with unique effects like coverflow, flip, cube and more, alongside a slew of customization options. With it we are releasing Swiper Controls, which is an external set of previous/next buttons which can control any Swiper on the page, giving you maximum design flexibility.
  • New Blog components for adding tags and authors to posts, and constructing dedicating tag and author pages.
  • Three new Premium templates were added - Agency Creative, Disrupted and Healthy Colors. They work great on any device, integrate with the new blog functionality and feature the Swiper component for distinct slideshows.
  • Our academy of video lessons is now live.

Improved

  • Blog Loop saw major improvements and new options. It can filter by tags and authors, and can loop a custom set of pages in addition to folders. This brings the app closer to a general static website generator.
  • You can now configure Tags and Authors in your design in a new Blog section in the Settings dialog. You can assign authors and tags to blog posts from the Page Properties dialog.
  • Images are now responsive by default, and feature a new “Automatic Dimension” option. When activated, the width and height attributes are set automatically, reducing layout shifts and improving your Lighthouse scores. A few more useful options were added, like Aspect Ratio, Full Width and Full Height.
  • The Picture component is now much easier to use. It displays breakpoints and generates dimensions automatically.
  • All options with breakpoints and breakpoint selectors now show an indicator for the active breakpoint the page is in, making it easier to tell what you’re modifying.
  • The Flex group now has a breakpoint dropdown which makes it more convenient.
  • Option panel was reorganized and new options were added for many components. “Responsive Display” is now “Display and Sizing” and has more options. A new Margin & Padding option group was added.
  • When creating links while text editing, you now get options for title, rel and aria-label.
  • The app now generates more responsive utility classes for margin and padding. Previously these went only to 5, but now utilities up to 10 are generated automatically and included in your styles only if used.

Fixes

  • Bug fixes galore. We went through the entire application and fixed longstanding bugs and usability issues.

We are looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks will testing over Weekend and get back with feedback…

Why do we have to pay for the new premium themes again?

Premium templates are very costly to make and we can’t afford to give them away for free. This is the only way we can bring great high-quality themes to Bootstrap Studio.

Once again, win11 upgrade fails miserably!

Hi, I’m on a PC with Windows 11 and the update went through without a hitch.
In fact, no update has caused any problems on my PC.
Perhaps a configuration problem?
Many thanks to the BSS team for this major development, patience has been rewarded :slightly_smiling_face:.

Also with a lifetime license?

Yes, that is very confusing. First it says the premium templates are included and then suddenly they are not, it doesn’t feel good at all. I also assume that there will be no new free themes. Too bad, I had always hoped that there would finally be some more.

Not sure where to get these? Please instruct or share a link.

Personally, I like the pricing model BSS have gone for here where they have made more themes you can pay for if you want them.

It means that the product price is still an incredible deal, and if you so wish you can buy these add-on themes.

I personally am always looking for any excuse to throw more money to the amazing team behind BSS. I may purchase these themes even if I won’t use them.

I am IN LOVE with the changes that have come with this update, the new “Display & Sizing” options are especially life changing for the application!

Once you have the update, create a new design. On the new design screen scroll down and hover over the templates with a padlock, it then shows the option to purchase them.

Thank you for the feedback! Making the academy was a good exercise as it revealed how to organize the options better and which new ones to add. Expect more improvements in our next updates.

As for the templates, I understand why it might be disappointing that they aren’t included for free, but the economics simply doesn’t work. With your license you got all premium templates that were released until then. That’s a pretty good deal, new users only get one or two.

The additional features to the blog function, in particular, are great. The automatic dimensions option on images, is also helping to improve page speed (according to Google). Haven’t tested everything out yet, but so far so good.

Hi, why new users have it for free ? As an old one we have to purchase it almost the same price as the app.I was surprised but I understand, you have to earn your life .
In any case, I prefer it to a subscription!!!

They updated the pricing page.

Standard users get 1 premium template

Lifetime users get two, if you purchased the app a while ago the we get all the templates up to the most recent with this release.

It upsets me that anyone should complain about the added cost for premium templates  Bootstrap Studio is one of the best software deals :star::star::star::star::star: I’ve ever found in over 40 years of using computers. This program is EASILY worth five times what they charge, and the fact that they include hosting, forms and lifetime updates is mind-boggling.

Look at the cost of alternatives…
Pinegrow - more expensive, annual fees for updates and no extra perks.
Rapidweaver - more expensive, annual renewal, Mac only, one computer install, themes cost more, no added perks
Pigendo - more expensive, annual renewal, one computer install, no perks
Cloudbuilders- Wix, Weebly, GoDaddy, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, etc. - all MUCH more expensive, annual renewals and in most cases you get ONE website, and they own it (except Webflow). Leave the platform, lose your website!

I remember back in the day (over 20 years ago) paying hundreds of dollars for standalone programs like Dreamweaver and Photoshop. And you’d have to buy them all over again every time they did a major update. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars on Adobe software over the years, and their creative cloud is certainly no deal.

Bootstrap Studio is the best deal in website builders, BAR NONE! People should be counting the lucky stars this software even exists at such a low price.

^^^^THIS. I don’t want to repeat what @printninja said, but I’m with him on this.

Anyone seeing this should please consider this app has not been updated in over 6+ years and they removed the user forum years ago. So not a viable option, rather amazing they still take money after disappearing.

Wow. Okay. Didn’t even know that. Sounds pretty criminal.

I honestly didn’t do a deep dive into the alternatives. Just threw out some examples of stuff that I knew off the top of my head. There are actually dozens of niche website builders out there that can technically make websites, but they’re all jokes compared to BSS.

Mobirise - Advertised as free, but to do anything meaningful you have to subscribe. It was pretty limited back when I first looked at it, but it seems to have evolved. They have lots of widgets/extensions and every one costs extra. Mobirise Kit is $149. Not sure if there’s a renewal or upgrade cost.

Wappler - At one time it seemed like a viable competitor to BSS. It can build both static and database-driven websites as well as apps. It has drag-and-drop features, with a very sophisticated UI that easily rivals the best stuff out there. Tons of tools and features, great documentation, a robust user-community, and all for the low price of $600/year (EVERY YEAR)

Coffee Cup is still around with a variety of options all priced separately and it’s all renewal based. I really haven’t followed its development.

WYSIWYG Website builder - Amazingly, this piece of junk is still around. I tried it many years ago and ended up ditching it when the author and I had a huge argument over how stupid I told him it was that you could not set font sizes in anything other than points (and only the sizes offered in MS Word… ex, 10, 12, 14, 18, 24, 48, 72) Maybe it’s evolved since then. It is fairly cheap, but you do pay for upgrades.

Then there are the WordPress builders like Breakdance and Elementor, if you want to spend $200 to be able to build more than one website.

There are also a plethora of cloud-based builders that use AI to help you put up a quick site (far too many to list) but they’re all based on the same kinds of SaaS models. And they tend to limit you in terms of customization, code export, etc.
