Obviously BSS is used by people all over the world, so I can appreciate your wanting to keep the prices low. What people in one country might consider to be “affordable”, people in another might think it way too much. Personally, I think BSS is generously underpriced.
I’m sure you realize that Bootstrap Studio is practically in a class by itself. At this point, almost all website builders are SaaS model. The precious little competition there is to BSS (Pinegrow, Mobirise, RapidWeaver (mac only) Wappler, and I guess WYSIWYG Website Builder) are either far more expensive, have annual renewals (if you want updates) or are simply inferior products.
If you set up a voluntary annual renewal fee just to help ensure the continued development of BSS, I’m sure plenty of us would pay it just to say, “thanks” for giving us such a great program.
We aim to bring 2 or 3 new lessons per month. Maybe we should make a section on the forum for announcing new academy videos.
Running a marketplace is very complicated in terms of regulations and taxes. At the moment this is not worth it, but we could do it some day if the Bootstrap Studio user base grows significantly.
Tools exclusively targeting professional users can indeed charge more and most transitioned to subscription models. For us keeping the app inexpensive and single-payment is key as it makes it available to a large audience of freelancers, makers and learners. We want people who are just starting out to discover the app, and grow with it into a pro.
I understand that one might charge a low price for templates for subscribers, but €20 is far too expensive for what they are. They’re not extraordinary, and there are very few of them. I believe that at €7 or €10, you would have sold many more. BR
Even paying for the templates separately without the bundle I think you’re getting a good deal.
The templates are well made, are actually quite unique and all are exclusive to BSS. They have been made specifically for the program so are good to go, no importing all the assets like if you purchased a template not made for the application.
If you hired a developer to create a site similar to these templates the cost would be much much higher so the prices are already quite heavy discounted.
Thank you to the brilliant BSS web developers who take their time, knowledge and experience to build cool template for all of us. I don’t get it, why would anyone complain about… ? You ought to be thankful for their work.
I am not a developer, but I will gladly support them. I really like learning, so I get to play in the sand box, as it were, to see how the templates work.
